STARTING IN F1

Stephen Slater was born in Redhill, Surrey, on 10th of January 1987. After spending two years living in the south of England, he moved to Derbyshire when his Dad was given the job of Northern Sports Reporter for BBC Radio. Between 1991 and 1998, he attended Great Hucklow Primary School.

In 1994 he was captivated when for the first time ever he watched a Formula One race (this being the German Grand Prix) and declared himself a life long fan. This love of F1 resulted in him bursting into tears when Michael Schumacher took Damon Hill out of the 1994 Australian Grand Prix, and doing exactly the same thing in 1996 when Damon became World Champion.

Big excitement came in 1997 when Stephen's father began covering all the Grands Prix for BBC Radio. This provided Stephen with a whole range of opportunities and in July 1997, Stephen attended his first F1 race: the British Grand Prix with (then friend) Jonathan Vickers.

STARRING IN F1

The following year though came the greatest experience when Stephen was taken by his father to the 1998 Monaco Grand Prix. He had a whole day in the paddock, mingling with the stars, going in motorboats, luxury yachts and at last meeting life long hero Damon Hill.

Since 1998, he has attended the dump in Bakewell (otherwise known as Lady Manners School), and, despite not doing much work, he has made a name for himself with talks he has given on both F1 and the wonders of space. Stephen's video editing has also done him proud when in May he won £2000 worth of rugby equipment in a competition.

In 2001, Stephen's life-long love of hopeless F1 drivers was vindicated when he discovered F1 Rejects.com, and after another trip to Silverstone, this time with zealous young Robert Foster alongside him, he decided to send in an article about his experiences. An interview with Reject King Al Pease followed, and McGregor and Law were so impressed, that Stephen was declared the site's 'UK Correspondent'. Since he has been working hard on Reject Interviews - the crowning glory being the uncovering of 1967's Tom Jones.

His ambition is to one day live in the millionaire's paradise of Monaco.
