WE'RE BACK...

Postby Kuwashima » 30 Apr 2012, 23:09

Hi guys,

We're back thanks to some quick work from our site hosts, and we're hoping issues have been largely solved.

If anyone is still loading virus warnings, can you please let us know ASAP here. If you were one of the ones getting warnings and things are different now, it would be good to know that too.

Cheers,
Jamie

Thanks for the quick fix.

This is unrelated to this forum and the problems but i would recommend people try out Web Of Trust and NoScript broser plugins, as they can reduce the chance of malicious content getting through. WOT works with major browsers and also color codes your google searches so you can very quickly filter out fake hits. It mainly protects you by loading it's warning warning page before suspect webpages or popups and gives you the chance to close it or ignore the warning. This applies to banners and ads as well. - http://www.mywot.com/en/faq

NoScript works with Mozilla browsers only and is a bit of a PITA to use because it kills ALL the scripts on a webpage leaving most pages unusable, however you only have to un-block a website once and NoScript will remember the setting. The benefit is that each first time you visit a page it will almost certainly be harmless, which is good when you are fooled onto a fake site. With enough browsing and unblocking your regularly visited pages will grow in number and work as normal, but the first time you visit them you will be annoyed. It's worth the inconvenience though, and as a bonus having fewer scripts allowed makes browsing fasterand kills some ads as well.Give it a try. - http://noscript.net/

I have to say that the Forum now loads quicker and that no 'waiting for daysofyorr' is appearing which is also a good sign.

It was horrible to have not the forum available! ;) Even worst than F1 deprivation!
Or, better, to have the Forum back makes F1 deprivation less bad. ;)

Great work for having the forums back up in such a short period of time! They do indeed load up much faster than before, and there's no longer any malicious software hanging about. Couple of pointers, though; in the couple of days the temporary forum was up, I grew really fond of its layout and theme (kudos to kostas22 for hosting it!). Maybe a bit of change would be nice on this forum, as the default theme is quite dull, to be honest.

Also, whilst having your attention J&E, what do you think about this?

That, and Wizzie teased me by telling that McKane got third in Italy, and the Ernesto Vita Memorial Forum, and the F_RWRS forums.

Yes, any existing avatars can be still viewed, but you can't upload new ones via the UCP.

Speaking of avatars, for some reason the "post" icon (the one next to "by Blahblah" and the time) seems to have changed to a tiny WilliamsF1 logo! At a closer inspection, it's sized 75 x 75 - the forum avatar size - and I do remember someone having the Williams logo as his avatar...
