Sooooo, here goes. Let's hope that it's not as rejectful as in F1RWRS... (Allocated budget = 900)

Chassis choice

1st. Ligier (400)
2nd. Sauber (320)
3rd. Lotus (160)

Engine Choice

1st. Hart (176)
2nd. Yamaha (120)
3rd. Isuzu (224)

Driver 1

1st. Florence Briggs (300)
2nd. Joanna Gawron (-15)
3rd. Leonhard Von Gottorp (-500)

Driver 2

1st. Joanna Gawron (-15)

3rd. Leonhard Von Gottorp (-500)

Yes, driver choices are almost identical, but trying to bring sponsorship interest to the team by having a lovely pair of ladies in the team... Or else a sugar-daddy to compensate...

For Benetton Formula:

Chassis
1. McLaren
2. Jordan
3. Ligier

Engine
1. Renault RS6
2. Honda RA122E
3. Ford DFR

Driver 1
Unfortunely I seem to have a bit of a dilemma as four out of the six drivers that were available are now taken. There are only two left: Massimiliano Patrese and Stephane Nicolo (as far as I know they're BOTH pay-drivers) So in this case, can I pick three (six?) random drivers from any section or am I stuck with Patrese & Nicolo?

Edited the entry page so the 3 other people plus me can see what is left. Also see below for some comments on your entries

the Masked Lapwing: As Patrese has been chosen by another team as a 2nd driver and as they have more money he is likely to sign with them. I suggest you try the Driver Lottery at the end as there are quite a few orphened drivers out there including a certain Davies. The engine will be called a Holden HBA

Wizzie : Ferrari have refused you permission to rename their engine to a rival firm

AdrianSutil: Yes there are drivers you can't afford but if you had picked a pay driver then you would have been able to afford them.

Shizuka : Your budget did not allow any of the second drivers you wanted, you have first choice on Carlitos Mils else you can join the driver lottery where you can win highly skilled drivers.

BlindCaveSalamander : I took the liberity of giving you a Porsche engine as a rebadged Mugen sounds wrong.

Phoenix : No French pay driver for you but you do get a pay driver none the less

Dr-Baker : Well you have a rich sugar daddy, let's hope he is not too slow.

QuickYoda41 : You ended up with the Forti Chassis, Judd GV Engine and Barii Mori as your one driver, you will need to enter the driver lottery to get your 2nd driver as the other pay drivers went to well funded teams.

tristan1117 : Yes under budget and you have some credit left.

The Lukas : Currently you have a Forti Chassis and a Ford HB engine, are these in prefered order as the more expensive ones are at the bottom of your list?

JeremyMcClean : You should pick one of the drivers as they are young talented drivers (maybe), and you can enter the driver lottery for the other driver.

Phew!

Will update the other wiki tonight, unless someone else wants to do it...

In that case, I'll take Stephane Nicolo as the driver of my choosing.

Depending on what engine I get I'll rename the team to Benetton (Engine supplier) GP.

I'll enter the lottery for Sebastian Groves if that's OK (if that's what you mean anyways.)

JeremyMcClean : Okay, although Groves is signed to Phoenix, but you are in the lottery for another driver which does include Davies and Jones.

Shizuka : Done

BlindcaveSalamander : Well you wanted a Porsche engine so I gave you one. However I have now assigned you a Mugen engine. Fell free to edit it on the Wiki as I will still call it a Mugen engine (engineered by Porsche).

redbulljack14 needs to get his finger out and submit a team else he will randomly get a team made up of chassis, engines and at least one driver that are not used, currently he would get a Dallara chassis with a Illmor, Subaru, HKS or Judd EV engine)

This needs to do the same, as he will get a Arrows chassis with a MGN, Subaru, Ford DFR or even a Life F35 engine.

My entry is...

Minardi Chassis
Ford Zetec R engine (tuned by Nissan)
Dan Unser Jr
Mitchell Winson

Credits can be used for improvements over the year or a generall panic to fix the chassis or engine if you a 2 seconds off the pace in prequalifying. Engine improvements will randomly pop up during the year.

Am I right to assume that I will have the biggest budget for improvements, albeit with one alright driver and one albsolutely rubbish pay-driver?

eh i have already submitted my top 3's :? so on the first come first serve basis i will get my requested benetton-life and have a couple of cheap drivers to make up for that...
and my second and third choices are mentioned there too... when it comes to drivers: cheap! cheap! (if i can't get the first car choice, give me a better engine)
you can change to arrows-MGN with Gene and Mallon but only do that if you can't find a driver that fits in the Benetton-Life-Mallon combination!

http://f1alternate.wikkii.com/wiki/1994 ... One_season

Here are the official enteries along with the random drivers for the 6 teams that did not have a second driver.

Autosport wrote:Davies to bring magic touch?

Davies shocked the F1 world by signing up with Hungerian Life, does the 2 time F1 World Champion know something about the Team that caused Mori to sign up too? Could they be the dark horses in the championship? We are not sure, the untested Forti chassis could be quite nimble and they have the upgraded EV type of the V10 Judd engine.

Our Predictions

Our three teams to win the championship would be

JLD Motorsports, Ferrari Chassis with the newest Ferrari engine, do on paper look quite a combination and we have high hopes for White in a decent car as well as Garwon who could surprise.

Stavros GP, also have a Ferrari chassis with the older but still powerful Ferrari engine, have they choosen this for reliability? Signed the talented Melrose and the BTCC Champion Blackwell.

Benetton Formula have choosen the McLaren chassis which in the past has been very good as well as the powerful Benetton engine, although question marks remain over the selection of the young Nicolo and Jones who have only manged fair results in F3000.

Our predictions for surprises of the championship

Hungerian Life, choosen a new chassis and signed up two drivers who know what the podium looks like.

Chicago F1 Racing, Sauber Chassis with Fast Ferrari engine with up and coming talented pay driver Ben Fleet could bring them to the podium a few times, Carlo Waladi is an unknown but he seems to have impressed a lot of people in lower formula racing.

Aurora signed up pay driver Carlitos Mils at the last minute but his signing means they can afford the powerful Renault engines, if the Lambo chassis can perform well, Mitchell can show his talent and Mils can show he is more then a pay driver then I can see a few podiums

Our predictions for strugglers
Russian Bears have the untested Forti chassis too but have a tried and test Ford HB engine however Sarkozy is bring lots of money but is he bringing any talent? Should be outperformed by Buyvolov.

Foxdale Auto Racing, although the Chassis and Engine and main driver Briggs should set respectable times, we feel the 53 year old Von Gottrop is there only for his money

Donkervoort bought the fantastic Benetton chassis but the Life engine with it's funny W12 configuration is likely to bring them problems , however the talented Mallon and rising star Macklin could bring the car to speed.

Teams travelling to Spain
The teams are all off to Spain as they do the first test of the season. This will be the first time that the cars will be driven in anger and teams hope that their packages are competitive. We are very excited in seeing the new cars and their lap times which will determine the order of the teams as well as which teams will need to prequalify.

I have decided that only 2 (instead of 3) of your drivers fastest times will count towards the prequalifying lottery. Instead of using absolute times I shall use relative percentage, so if Daniel Melrose sets a blistering 60 second lap time at Jerez to top the time sheets and Sarkozy sets a 90 second lap time then his relative performance is 50%, where as Daniel Melrose is 0%, the best two percentages will be added up for both your drivers and the top best percentages do not have to prequalify.

Why have I done this for? Well if you are broke and have 0 credits you can decide to skip a test session and gain 60 credits ($60,000). You just need to tell me.

Conversely if you want to do another private test session you can pay 20 credits plus 1% of your budget in credits per driver to do another test which may (or may not) increase your cars performance or iron out issues which may cause you to retire, you may only do this once in pre season testing.

Another test session will be available after race 8.

First test session will be tonight at midnight (Japan time).

Jerez Day one

The first 9 teams were allowed out on Day 1 due to the large number of teams. Roos set the early pace by going second faster then Fleet, his team mate Ryan McReynolds on the other hand had a shoocker and was 14th fastest in the morning. Greg Mitchell was fastest in the afternoon but in overall times he could not go faster then Roos.

Fighting Mongooses - Will be happy with their performance overall, although we are at a loss at why McReynolds was so far off the pace in the morning.

Aurora - Will be over the moon with their drivers including Mils who drove faster then many would give him credit for.

JLD Motorsport - White was good and set constant lap times although Gawron did look out of her depth, but we hope she gets faster as the season progresses.

Chicago F1 - Ben Fleet impressed, although did have three spins in the test session which makes us wonder if he is trying too hard. Waladi struggled but being a young driver that has had his first F1 test, it is impressive.

EXTRAS - Patrese showed the speed that will probably get a podium over the season, Lavezzi did struggle to find balance in the car and span once.

Team Phoenix - Both drivers were consistant and look like being a good midfield team.

Zimsport - We did expect better from them, Katayama was trying hard but did look slightly out of her depth, Rotondo was just slow.

Welsh Motor Racing - Their engine was so down on power, we did wonder if they had turned it down to save revs and costs. The car did look a handful, Gene did mess up the double chicane and smacked a corner which causedt the car to fly, thankfully there was no injury or damage to the car.

Clio Racing - We believe that they are using an interim engine before they can fit in a Gordini engine. We hear Renault refused to supply them but they are using a rebadged customer engine.

Day two will feature the other 9 cars.

The Aurora team hasn't set their hopes this high, so they are VERY delighted with the chassis-engine selection as it seems it was a rather smart idea to put a Renault engine into the Lambo chassis. It seems now the team has pace, so the target is reliability.

Given that I haven't raced since my F3000 accident at Pergusa, to be topping the timesheets by over a second in the morning is a great encouragement. Obviously, there is still room for improvement with both the car and my driving, but I think we should be a solid force this year.

Ryan McReynolds wrote:I kinda wrecked the suspension on the kerbs early in the morning session, and we spent most of the time there just fixing it. Thing is, even afterwards, I was kinda wary of not doing that again, so I wasn't pushing as much as I could've. I focused more on long runs, just gaining experience with F1 cars, and I was happy with the car, but if we're going to challenge at the front we need to iron out the aero. I'm frustrated to be so far behind Ted already, but given that I'm 4th fastest overall and that I've spent my career focusing on IndyCars, it's not that bad. I don't see any way for me other than forward.

Jimmy McJimmerson wrote:I think it needs to be said that we took a gamble on hoping two young chargers would live up to their potential, and it certainly seems to have paid off. Ted showed a hell of a lot of maturity today, which is never a bad thing for a 25-year old, and he wasn't far off setting fastest in both sessions. His crash had a lot of similarity to the one that ended my career, but thanks to the improved safety, he's able to keep going, and if anything, he's quicker than he was before his crash. Ryan was unfortunate to have lost so much track time right at the formative stage of his F1 career, but he bounced back quite well in the afternoon. He's more used to IndyCars, so it'll take some time for him to show his full potential, but he's a very determined guy. He should close the gap between himself and Ted quickly. As for the car, it's performed even better than expectations. We got a lot of running in today, and though we have to wait for the other teams to go to see exactly where we are, it all looks good for us meeting or even exceeding our goal of 4th in the Constructors' Championship

Guillaume Gauthier wrote:I'm very pleased with how today went. You're always a little nervous putting a rookie in your car, but I think we hired the right guys for the job. Both of them showed already that they could both be World Champions in the future. Ted was quick and consistent, while Ryan set incredible pace for someone who has raced outside of North America exactly once. He's more, eh, angry in his driving than Ted, and paid for that this morning, but he can learn from that and hopefully find a balance that will not result in too many damaged cars! Jimmy and the engineers and mechanics should all pat themselves on the back, they've done a great job in setting up the car and keeping Ted and Ryan on the track and setting good times. That said, we shouldn't rest on our results here, the first race is still a way off, and we need to maximise our early season chances and start our season correctly.

Jerez Day Two

The last 9 teams came out and did their first tests.

Sunshine - Dan Unser Jr does look like he might be the first American since Mario Andretti to do well in F1. Mitchell Winson improved after a shaky start

European - Peter Kickert surprised everyone when he pop up in 2nd place and they were more amazed when he posted the 3rd fastest time, although questions will be asked if he can maintain this pace. John Nash was finding his feet in the morning and came back strongly in the afternoon.

Stavros - The morning looked very good, Melrose in 3rd and Blackwell in 9th but there were serious problems in the afternoon with Blackwell messing up the double chicane, flying over it and landing hard with a wheel flying off. Melrose set the 2nd slowest time of the afternoon and questions will be asked.

Benetton - The team were consistant with Hywel Jones setting times within 7 thousandths of each other, being 4th in both sessions and 5th overall. Nicolo must have had a problem in the afternoon session with a very slow time.

Foxdale - If people were surprised with Kickert they had their jaws on the ground when Von Gottorp managed 7th fastest in the morning, Foxdale will be smiling tonight.

Hungrian Life - The car does look very slow and all credit to Davies for driving the nuts off the car and managing the 5th fastest time in the afternoon session. 13th was unlucky for Mori as he could only manage that place in the morning and afteroon which put him 16th overall.

Donkervoort - The car does look tricky to handle as both drivers had spins in the morning session but all credit to Mallon for putting the car in qutie a high place.

West Midland F1 - Douglas Mann must be wondering why he is driving this car, it did look slow but Douglas plugged away and was consistant. Schussler improved in the afternoon.

Russian Bears - Their car does look slow and Buyvolov struggled to keep it on the road, ending up in the gravel twice. Sarkozy looked well out of his depth although he kept the car on the road.

Reject of the test : It would be easy to give it to Dante Zetticci, however last years F1 multiple podium winner, Barii Mori gets it for not stepping up to the plate when his team mate is going a second faster.

Incredible Drive of the Test : Well lots of old drivers are racing now, Leonhard Von Gottorp nearly gets it for being 4 hunderdths of his teammate but it will go to Pieter Kickert for ending up in 7th just under 1 tenth of a second slower then his team mate.

Deadbeat Team Mate of the test : There could only be one person and that person is Mitchell Winson, 17th places lower and 2.1 seconds slower then your team mate is not a good start to the season, especially as you have talent.

Car improvements.

There are three things that can be improved on the car, the Chassis (improvements to Grip and Reliabiltiy), the Engine (improvements to BHP and reliability) and the Drivers (improvements on Grip, reliability and random grip).

There are three ways to improve the car.

Waiting, if you wait, then every so often the chassis or engine makers will improve their product and a message will be posted to that effect.

Long term improvements, if you pay at least 15% of your original budget, you will see a number of small improvements on the car, engine and drivers. The more you pay the more benefit you will get. (Example, Russian Bears had a budget of 500(,000) and if they spend 75(,000) at least, then every few races they will get Chassis, Engine and Driver improvements).

Emergency upgrade, by paying a one off payment you can improve the chassis, engine or drivers. You may ask your engineer (in a post) what you should spend money on and he will tell you and make a recommendation. A general rule is that you need to spend at least 5% of your budget to see a minor improvement, the more money you chuck at it the larger the chance of a major upgrade. The results can take between 1 to 4 races to show up. You can improve drivers by spending at least 0.5% (half of one percent) of your budget on them, this will improve their driving (grip) and concentration (random grip). However spending more then 15% if your budget will probably have no more effort then just spending 15%, with drivers the most you should spend is 2.5% as any more then this will bring you very little benefit.

Testing, after test sessions you can do some private testing, it costs $25(,000) to do a test for one car (so $50(,000) for both). It will produce results in your drivers.

How to get money

if you have no money or want more there are a few ways you can try to raise some.

Skiping a test will net you 1% of your budget, not recommended for teams that are on the cusp.
Give driver a pay cut, if your driver has not been at his best and has not been worth the money you spent on them then you can cut theirpay, but beware they may not like this.
Beg sponsors, you can ask your sponsors (in a post) for some extra sponsorship. Saying "We need more money" won't do but something like "We need more money to develop the car and to continue the momentum we have" will do better.
Waiting, sometimes your sponsors will give you money.

To be fair, Zetticci won two GPs last year and has 8 years of F1 experience, he really should've done a lot better than somebody who had only 2 podiums in F3 to recommend him. Even if it is in one of the worst cars.

So how can you improve the car? Lets ask Autosport

Autosport wrote:
The two tests have been good and it will be exciting to see if anyone is keeping their cards close to their chest before we hed off to Brazil for the frist race. In the mean time here is our assesment on how the teams may improve.

Fighting Mongooses - To be fair the chassis looks fantastic and the engine sounds fantastic. The question will be if the drivers can driver a whole race?

Aurora - The car does look great with a fantastic engine, Mils could use some improvement.

European - A good choice of chassis and engine have brought some fantastic times so far but the question is can Pieter Kickert do a whole race and will he be consistant at every race?

Benetton Formula - The chassis does seem to be slower around the corners then the top cars and Jones does look a worse driver.

JLD - The engine does sound down on power compared to some of the top teams, although the chassis is fantastic, Garwon does need fitness and driver training.

Phoenix - The chassis could use some improvement it does look dated and we believe drag on the straights.

Sunshine - Mitchell Winson should be doing much better, he needs to shape up.

Chicago F1 - The chassis does seem skitish and Waladi looks out of his depth.

Stavros - The engine does need more power as it is slower then the 043 used by JLD and Chicago. Drivers need a good talking to.

EXTRAS - The chassis does seem skitish, both drivers could use training.

Foxdale - The engine does seem fast, but the chassis we think is much slower around corners. Von Gottorp has a question mark on his health.

Donkervoort - The engine is in major need of power as it is the slowest engine on the track.

Hungrian Life - The chassis needs some major upgrades, the wings seem unsuitable.

West Midland F1 - The engine is not much faster then the Life and does need some major work.

Zimsport - The chassis seems to oversteer and understeer, and seems to be allergic to corners.

Welsh Motor Racing - Chassis seems to not to want to turn into corners quickly.

Russian Bears - The engine needs more power and the chassis does require upgrades. Sarkozy needs a kick up the bottom.

Clio Racing - Chassis is ugly and slow, the engine is heavy and slow and Zetticci needs to be read the riot act.

Reject of the test : It would be easy to give it to Dante Zetticci, so we will.

Incredible Drive of the Test : Donald Mallon for driving the Donkervoort into the top half of the time sheets.

Deadbeat Team Mate of the test : There could only be one person and that person is Mitchell Winson again, 4th from bottom when your team mate is 5th fastest is a quick way to be shown the door.
