The Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship

Postby Stramala » 04 Apr 2012, 11:21

Image
The Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship is a first foray into the sport of rallying for the Reject World Race Series franchise, the new pinnacle of rallying worldwide as a replacement for the now defunct World Rally Championship. 2015 will see the sport of rallying return to its former glory.

Do you have no idea whatsoever what Trackmania is? Watch the demo here.

The Format
A 10 round calendar will comprise the inaugural 2015 Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship. Each Rally will be made up of six stages, with one of these six nominated to be a power stage, to which points bonuses will be awarded. All entrants will be given a two week deadline to complete each rally.
Points will be awarded to the Top 10 finishers; 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. The power stage will give the following awards; 1st - 2 points, 2nd - 1 point.
Times will be recorded from each stage, and combined to generate an overall rally time. The quickest in the overall time will win the event, the second quickest overall will take second, and so on.

Each driver sets their six stage times within a two week period, and sends all replays to the TMRRC Commissioner for review. Anyone who does not complete a stage will be given the time of the slowest driver of said stage, with an added penalty of 30 seconds. Any driver who fails to complete a single stage will be excluded from the rally, and penalised 5 points in the drivers championship, unless said driver has notified the TMRRC Commission of their absence from the event before the rally begins.

Entry
Due to the nature of the series, there is no limit to the amount of entires. There will be three trophies to compete for; the TMRRC Drivers Championship, Teams Championship and Nations Cup. Each team can have up to three drivers, with two nominated to score points at each rally. Each user gets one driver (as you are doing the driving, not the computer).

Coverage
The Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship will have unprecedented levels of TV Coverage for an RWRS event, with highlights programmes in High Definition after every event. The highlights package will broadcast all six stages, with every driver facing off against each other at the same time, on the same stage.

Equipment
Any modern desktop computer can easily handly Trackmania, and most laptops as well, but netbooks are not advised. The resolution you can run may be lower on old or low spec machines, but this will not affect the speed of your car in-game or during replays sent to the commission. The game can be downloaded for free here. All competitors MUST use the car skin corresponding to the driver's country of origin (this is automatically selected when registering for the first time, but can be changed using in-game menus). The game can be operated by keys or an external joypad/steering wheel.

Red Bull World Rally Team will run two cars. Jason Hamilton will be the lead driver but the second car is available. (I have a friend in real life who might be interested in this).

Oh my days, I had forgotten Track Mania even existed.

Count me in X1 million.

Sebastian Prost fancies a go at this!

Team Ultimate GB.
1-Sebastian Prost (FR)
2-Reserved-(GB)

A bit confused on what car to run for Prost though, British team, French Driver. (I have a brother who may or may not be intrested in the 2nd seat)*edit* or will we run our own livery?
I am hyped for this! Maybe we can even get a server going for group practice!

Can I propose that the first Rally be composed of the first 6 stages of the A-Set of solo challenges just so people can get their eye in and see how this works?

I would Suggest the first 6 B challenges, The A challenges are too short/simple (one of them is just a single jump and goal over in 6 seconds)

Hmm... Maybe the A challenges could be a sort of 'reconnaissance' before the fun really begins with the B challenges :P

The new-born Hydook Rally Team will enter TRRC with #9 Anton Bosevic as a driver.
Oh, and if I remember correctly TMNF accepts 3D skins, so if this is possible, I want to use this :D

As much as I'd like to have those, you need a premium account for customs skins to appear to everyone. With the nations skins it means I get no blank white cars in replays, which is what would happen here. So stick to the Croatia livery.

Slight rule adjustment, before every event begins there will be a shakedown stage, which will not count towards the final rally result. We will not be using any Nadeo tracks either I think, there are millions of community tracks out there and some of them are quite nice. I know one mapper in particular whose maps would fit the bill of a couple of real life rallies.

I absolutely suck at Trackmania; that´s why my team will be there:

"Trata de arrancarlo por Dios Sainz Racing, powered by Jamon de Guijuelo"
#99 - Aerond

(Trata de arrancarlo por Dios is what Luis Moya famously said to Carlos Sainz when their Toyota stopped 500m away at the last stage of the 1998 WRC Championship, thus preventing Sainz from winning his 3rd championship)

The Generic Times wrote:Legendary events return to top-level rallying

Organisers of the new Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship have said that fans can expect the return of legendary rallies past, those that were exiled by the former WRC, but will return as part of this new series.

"The Safari Rally? Yes, this will be in the calendar," said Alasdair Lindsay, TMRRC Commissioner. "It is too early to say which events will for sure be in the calendar, but just now, we are looking at the Safari, Corsica, 1000 Lakes, New Zealand, and some others as well. I think considering how many Australian teams and drivers are signed up already, maybe we will have to go to Perth. We are negotiating with the organisers just now, we will see in the near future which events will make up the 2015 Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship."

@FMecha, you don't use YouTube. You don't even record a video. Once you have finished the stage, and you are happy with your time, press Save Replay. It will save a .gbx file in your Replays folder. This .gbx is only about 50kb. Send it to me directly and I will compile everyone's replays together.

PowerSurge Rally Motorsport
#50 - Brad Jacobs (GBR)

:D
That's right Eddie, that was me with the banner, Spanish GP, 2002. This pile of legal forms won't fill itself in you know...

Yes, free version works fine.

FMecha, not sure what you did wrong, doesn't sound like any problem I've had before. What OS do you have?

Sure, my brother will be racing under the name "Matt Older"

Though it may be a bit part campaign. :D

Yes, because it had Juan Pablo Montoya.

Any relation to Darren Older Jr?

We now have 12 drivers. Still looking for more though! And Scuderia Alitalia is looking for someone to drive for them, even if perhaps only part-time :D

I might be able to convince my brother to do this as well. Mostly because I know he's just as good at Trackmania as I am and there's been countless times where one of us would make a track on the editor and then spend the rest of the afternoon thrashing each other's times to bits

The first action of the brand new Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship starts here. In preperation for the new season, series organisers have scheduled a group test session for all entrants. This special stage is a specially designed course for TMRRC testing, and gives a small hint as to what crews should expect for the season ahead.

The map can be downloaded here, and all competitors have until the 15th of April to set times on this prologue and submit them to the TMRRC Commissioner, by sending an email to alasdairlindsay@gmx.com, containing the following;

  • Your username
  • Your virtual driver
  • Time
  • Copy of your replay file (found under TmForever > Tracks > Replays. Remember to click 'Save Replay' once you are finished your best time.)

DO NOT FORGET THE FOLLOWING: Set your car skin to the nation of your virtual driver, and set your in-game nickname to the name of your driver rather than your actual username.

While the above test is not mandatory for all teams, it is by all means recommended, and also useful to see how you stack up against your rival drivers!

Good luck to all crews.

Monte Carlo confirmed for TMRRC

Series organisers of the new Trackmania Rejects Rally Championship have today confirmed that the illustrious Rallye Monte Carlo will form part of the 2015 calendar, but other events are still to be announced.

"We are still in final negotiations with ACM," said Alasdair Lindasy, Chief Commissioner of the TMRRC. "The deal is there in principle and 99% to go ahead, we are just working on small details such as where it will fit into the calendar."

"It is likely they will be the first rally on the calendar, they are the most ready of all the people we have talked to so far."

*In the prologue, there is one section where I expect some people to say "I'm stuck, this map is impossible!". Well, it isn't, if you get stuck you just need to try approaching the problem differently...;)

That prologue is one of the most frustrating tracks I've ever driven. Spent an hour trying to get a half-decent time for HWNSNBM's sake :|

Why do I have the feeling that the bit I struggle with is completely different?

I was just going through the first post, and I have something to point out:

It's Mark Kirby, not Matt
And can he use #31 please?

Oh and O'Lauchlan Motorsport would like to use the #73 for their entry.

The track is fun, apart from one section. The jump through the ring at the end. The double jump sequence to get too it is hard too judge right at full trot, arghhhh.
There is another jump I thought was impossible at first but actually the way to beat it is rather ingenious and once I got the knack of it easy as pie.

I expect to be at the wrong end of the time sheets at this rate :x

Is this the same jump that I got caught up on virtually every single time at around the 30 second mark?

Strangely enough, I didn't have that many problems with the ring. Mostly because I only got up to that part about 4 times but, whilst nowhere near perfect, wasn't that difficult.
