David AGS made a joke about a Grand Prix in Malta on the "Shortest F1 Books" thread, so I figured I'd make this.

Not intentionally, though I can see what the "Pinnochio Grand Prix" is all about now that I look at it again, as well as either a Vettel Finger or The Other Finger From HRT To The Anti-Fans... it was more of an attempt to get something interesting out of EMA's runways that don't cross each other in an A-shape the way quite a few others do. Of course, it has two very long straights that are excellent for a good thrash down, particularly in a chavved-up Saxo that would usually be seen racing round the edge of Broadmash car park and down Castle Boulevard. Wickid, innit!

Must admit I'm quite happy with second, considering it was a bit touch and go with the legality of the circuit! And the fact that the track through the tunnel would have been rather narrow!

Following rumours that Formula 1 could return to Long Beach in 2015 (the old promoter has been spotted in the Montreal paddock), here are a few suggestions for extending the circuit:

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5503762

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5503769

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5503773

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5503779

That last one isn't exactly realistic, though.

This may well be my very best circuit - but unfortauntely, it's too long. You would have to cut about two kilometres out of it to make it viable:

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5504044

On the other hand, though, it's pretty obvious where those two kilometres could be trimmed out.

Behold - I have made Valencia interesting!

Which was actually far easier than I thought it would be.

And an alternative proposal, using my extension plus the final sector of the existing circuit:

No, I didn't go for Ricardo Tormo - because the circuit is boring. There's a reason why it is frequently used for pre-season testing: like Catalunya before it, it is very, very neutral in terms of setup, so it is a good place to come to grips with a new car.

Anyone aware of the brilliant Coventry Ring Road? It would make a fantastic race track, completely free of at-grade intersections except a single roundabout, the rest is free-flowing with the junctions either above or below the road. Therefore I propose the Godiva 500, a 500 mile race named after Lady Godiva the one of the city's most famous icons.

Here is the route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5529305

And for those unfamiliar with the road itself, here is a 3 minute video showing it in its entirety, starting at the roundabout in the top right in the route map above: http://www.cbrd.co.uk/video/coventryringway.shtml Select the anti-clockwise one, and that's the way I'd envisage the track to run, with the removal of the central barrier so all 4 lanes could be used.

A few ideas in London, based on Bernie Ecclestone's comments that he would happily fund a race around the landmarks:

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5534141

I quite like these, actually.
