It's probably what they saved on brakes by buying pads that only last 24 laps.

30-60mill is a lot, still loose change compared to Ferrari, Merc, RBR, McLaren etc.

But havent Thesan have a 3 year plan or so, 1 year (not including last years half), so they may be putting a lot in.

1st year: Get organised, by means of setting up a factory, owning your transporters etc (they used Kolles's trucks last year) and be a little competitive on track
(so far on schedule)

2nd year: Be competitive more, possibly challenge for a point, and look for potential sponsors (mabe Ma can drum up Asian backing, ditto for Clos)

3rd year: (All being well!) take advantage of new rules, find an engine manufacturer (Renault?) find more backing, and make further progress, and by them possibility can be self funded.

If anyone from F1Rjects is going to Valencia for the race, be on the hunt for some HRT Merchandise as there are pieces for sale starting this weekend.

If you buy some, take pictures because I want to know if the rejectful-ness can be reflected on what they wear.

Just a couple of quick news bits for the team:-

1. A new mini sponsor China Sports Management http://t.co/4heb1E5b

2. There are rumours that Mercedes Engine's, Kers and Gearbox will be in the 2013 HRT car.

I see the red in the HRT livery is a lot lighter now than it was before, is this just a slight change or perhaps more in line with some potential new sponsors they're looking to sign? I'm assuming it may have something to do with the Chinese money no doubt coming their way?

May I refer you to Massimo Moratti's recent visit to China with the China Railway Construction company, where he discussed the building of a new stadium. The cost? Our 2012/13 away shirts will be communist red :?

Might be a close battle between HRT and Marussia, if long-run pace is anything to go by in the 2nd practice session;

Karthikeyan Pic
L27 '48.0 L24 '49.5
L28 '47.7 L25 '49.0
L29 '48.3 L26 '48.1
L30 '48.1 L27 '49.3
L31 '51.5 L28 '49.0
L32 '47.8 L29 '49.0
L33 '49.8 L30 '48.4

It seems that at the end Karthikeyan did not get a proper qualifying run in because of problems with heating tyres, which is perhaps why he was 2 seconds off Glock

DLR did it again! His time of 1:42.171 is another best for HRT, the third in a row, as it represents 104'16% of final pole time. This is nearly one percentual point better than the previous record! Karthikeyan's time would also have been good enough to beat it.

I actually got my HRT Fanclub card, mailed in from Spain. I was actually very surprised that they would mail it to Jamaica from Spain, but I'm very happy about it! Now I'll have whatever access it gives me in the Fanzone. Find it pretty cool, to be honest, that they're giving them out for free.

Australian fans are lucky I think, driver access can be easy if you know where to go...!

When I was lining up to get in the track on Thursday here, Sala actually brushed me, as he went through the other gate. I was tempted to call his name for a signature, but didnt want to make a scene, but he was gone in seconds anyway.

Well, it is a reasonable possibility that Karthikeyan will once more be put on the bench for the latter half to the year. However, nobody from the top teams seem to be willing to pay to park somebody there this time around, so it will be a new guy. Dani Clos might be an easy option but the question about his financial situation is the obvious one. Perhaps they are trying to build him as De La Rosa's successor which would explain his use in FP1 and would dissolve the need for a big sponsorship package. Short term, however, we might rather see Ma Qing Hua in the car, especially if the Young Drivers Test goes ahead and he gets the needed 300 km under his belt. I guess after that he will be handed a super license without much questioning and could take over the car as soon as Germany.
