Indeed 25 is not that young for recent standards. Thing is, not everyone can be ready at 19 or 20 or something like that, and, above all, not everyone can do the jump. Most people can't make it because they need more experience or need to mature more in order to give the best of themselves. What I meant over there was that I is pretty much possible that Pantano was too young in his race career and in his life timing to make it work. I should have said that it was too soon for him. Perhaps that sounds better...
This was a problem that didn't existed in the past. With people entering F1 at 25 or later and having time to mature at their pace, you could be champion much later in your life. Take Keke Rosberg. He was champion at 34. I saw how he went in the first year of his F1 career. It was littered with DNPQs and DNQs. If it was today he could have never become champion. (He entered F1 at 30).
